Jackie, born 1934, was the 5th and last child of Epstein. His mother was Isabel Nichols, an art student, who Epstein met in 1932 when she offered to model for him. Isabel lived in Epstein's household for two years but after the baby was born she left to live in Paris and Jackie was brought up by Epstein's wife Margaret.
Epstein made numerous childhood portraits of Jackie and affectionately nicknamed him Ragamuffin. Jackie Epstein trained as an engineer but became well-known in motor racing circles as an accomplished driver and later as a team and circuit manager. He died recently, January 2009, at the age of seventy-four.
